DIY Headboard

Lately I have been dreaming up ways to decorate my new apartment (which I haven't even found yet). It's a great way to procrastinate. Anyway, one of the first things I do when I move in is make my own headboard.

One of my of my biggest inspirations in Tom's (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) chalkboard headboard in the movie 500 Days of Summer. While I am not artistic enough to actually cover a chalkboard with cool drawings, I like the idea. I found this picture which has a blackboard with another headboard on top of it. I really like that idea.



Another cool idea that I saw while browsing the web was the idea of using an old door or mirror as a headboard. It could be pretty cool if I can find an old door or mirror...


Another idea I had was to use fabric to make sort of a padded headboard. It probably wouldn't be too difficult with a thin board and a staple gun. Here are some examples:







This is Serena's bedroom in Gossip Girl. I love how the headboard extends beyond the edges of the bed.
I also thought that I might try to find a curtain/drape/sheet with a cool pattern and just hang that. Maybe on a curtain rod...

Out of everything I saw, though, these two are definitely my favorites. I just love them.

Bright Colored Nails

I don't usually wear bright nail polish...or any nail polish at all for that matter. Mostly just red, black, gray, or dark purple. Recently, however, I have embraced bright colored nail polish and I love it!

My sister has been wearing neon pink and other bright colors for months now. I am late catching the trend. Yesterday I bought neon blue (I'm wearing it now and loving it!!), bubblegum pink, and a spring green.


I also like the idea of matte nail polish (like the picture above). Not sure if I'm ready to wear it yet. Maybe in a gray

My Current Favorite Song

Baby I'm a Fool by Melody Gardot.

I first discovered her because her song "Your Heart is Black as Night" is on the soundtrack of An Education.

Her voice is gorgeous and her songs have an older jazz/bluesy feel that you don't often hear today. I love it.

New Shoes

I love shoes, especially new ones, more than any other material objects. I can't wait til the terrible rain/snow mixture stops and I can walk outside without rubber boots on, when I don't have to leave extra room in my bag because I have to switch shoes once I get to work. I want the salt that is scattered all over Chicago to disappear and stop ruining everything it touches! Until then I will just stare dreamily at these awaiting better weather....

Vegas Wedding

I love short wedding dresses. BUT the only time I would wear one is if I ran off to Vegas to get married, and if that happens this is the dress I plan on wearing. It is fun and light, the way a short dress should be, the way I would like my Vegas wedding to be.

In addition to this beauty, Sarahseven has other gorgeous long dresses that would be beautiful to wear to a non-Vegas affair as well.


I have also been in love with a dress like this, sadly, since watching 27 dresses... I am in NO way promoting the movie, but wasn't that dress amazing?!
This dress from jcrew is similar and I think if this were my dress I would add lace across the middle section and probably not wear such heavy jewelry. I love love love the pockets.

What I love about the 27 Dresses dress is how it is cut in the back. A good back should always be flaunted.
